The venerable Tamarack Lean-to, located between Route 96B and Travor Rd. in Danby State Forest, has been dismantled. A new lean-to will be built in late June.

The work left to do includes four chores. We will cut up the remaining logs for firewood and stack it. We will move the dimensional lumber out of the way and stack it. We will carry in pieces of a new locust picnic table, and assemble on the site. And finally, we will rake and grade the site for the new structure. The goal is to provide a level, clean, dry work area with easy access so the construction crew can start building as soon as they arrive on June 25th.

Bring lunch, water or energy drink, broken-in work boots or hiking boots, sturdy leather work gloves, and dress for the weather. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting a little soiled.

Rain date: June 12th.
